Iowa State vs. Virginia NCAA Tournament game,

a cheerleader had an unlucky accident.

One of Friday night’s NCAA Tournament games featured the No. 4 Iowa State Cyclones vs. the No. 1 Virginia Cavaliers in the Midwest Region. The game saw ISU’s Georges Niang dominate the contest, but Virginia came out on top 84-71 to advance to the Elite Eight on Sunday.

During the second half of the game, an Iowa State cheerleader was involved in a nasty but unlucky incident.

The respective team’s cheerleaders usually sit to the side of the basket and about five feet away from the baseline. It’s not an ideal spot for them to be since the action is so close, and on Friday night, it resulted in an ugly accident.

On a play by the basket, an Iowa State player had the basketball deflect off his foot. The ball then took a horrible direction and smacked the cheerleader in the face. The girl was seen crying as she was escorted away by someone.
